WHEN Danny Invincible arrived from Sydney at the start of the season, he immediately caught the public's imagination.

He was in such demand with the press that manager Colin Todd banned him from speaking to the media and told him to concentrate on his football.

Partly due to his skills and partly because of his name, great things were expected of Town's Mr Invincible, but, five months down the line, things have not quite gone to plan for player, club or manager.

Invincible has shown flashes of brilliance but in a struggling side, but he has found life difficult.

Defenders have left him battered and bruised, his team have found themselves struggling and to cap it all, the man who tempted him to Wiltshire departed for the East Midlands last week.

The Australian star could be forgiven for jumping on the first plane home.

But this lad is made of sterner stuff and he is determined to show there are better days ahead for both him and for Swindon Town. His two goals at Notts County were a good start and now he wants more of the same.

He said: "Nothing will put me off my game. I am really enjoying life here at Swindon. "I came here to play football in England and I am still really enjoying it.

"Of course, it would be better if we were winning and going well in the league but you never know what might happen in a couple of weeks.

"We have a lot of games coming up now and a few wins, which we are more than capable of getting, will be great for us all.

"Although it might look bad from a results and table point of view, I can assure you that performances are improving and we will soon get results.

"I can't see us being down at the bottom and in a relgation fight at the end of the season."

It was a new exerience for Invincible, who was allowed to speak with the press after scoring his double at Meadow lane and it was certainly nice to chat with him.

He said: "Colin Todd asked me not to speak with the media and told me to let my feet do the talking.

"It has helped me to concentrate on my football. I don't mind talking, but there is no better way of putting your point across than by putting the ball in the back of the net, no matter what position I play."

Invincible's two goals on Saturday just failed to give caretaker boss Andy King the win he desperately wanted, but he is determined to make sure Town get their win tonight.

He said: "Andy King is great. He really gets you going and the lads want to do well for him.

"He knows what he is talking about and if he gets the chance to take the job on, then I have no doubt he will do it well."
