Danny Invincible is delighted the goals are starting to flow even if he does run the risk of being labelled as greedy.
Town's Australian import was desperate to claim the match ball from the Cambridge clash with only the crossbar denying him his first ever hat-trick.
The striker's tally for the season now stands at six and he is confident of adding to that as Town look to build on the victory.
He confessed that his desire for a hat-trick had led to a touch of greed in front of goal.
"I probably was greedy a couple of times but I wanted that hat-trick and to take the ball home. I don't think it was being greedy in a bad sense though. I really don't mind who gets the goals if we win. It is nice to score though," he said.
The popular midfielder, revelling in his new forward role, said the 3-1 win was a huge boost to a Town team which was starting to show just what it is capable of producing.
He said: "It was a great win. We've needed a win. With the home games coming up if we can get a couple of results under our belt then we'll be back on track."
The Australian said he was delighted to see that training ground routines were starting to reap their reward during games.
"I'm feeling confident but there's still a long way to go and a lot to work on. Kingy is going with a 3-5-2 formation which seems to be going quite well. The team is on a high. Let's hope we can stay on a high for the next couple of games," he said.
"We want to get the crowds back at the County Ground. If results are going well hopefully they will come and support the team."
While Invincible is confident Town can start to make a real impression in Division Two, fellow scorer Keith O'Halloran said Christmas was the time to start making judgements about their progress.
The Irish midfielder, brought to the club in the summer by Colin Todd, opened his goalscoring account by smashing in the third.
"Goalscoring is one area I have been disappointed with," he said. "I should score more goals. The win has been a long time coming. We have been getting there. People said at the start of the season that we were going to do very well but I always said judge us at Christmas.
"Everything went so smoothly in pre-season but it is going to take a while for the boys to adjust.
"We have got 12 or 13 new lads in. The lads who have seen it all here have helped us through. I think we played much better on Saturday when we got beaten but we are all playing with more confidence."
Skipper Alan Reeves continued as part of the new-look back five introduced by caretaker boss King.
He said: "We went from strength to strength as the game wore on and it was quite comfortable in the end.
"We needed a good start which we got from Danny and there were good spirits in the dressing room at half time.
"We could have had a couple more in the second half."
David Duke, who had a great chance to snatch a point for Town at Notts County on Saturday, said taking the lead in a game made a real difference.
"Going 1-0 up is something we have very rarely done. It gives you confidence and settles you down so much," he said.
