BOYFRIEND David Bradfield headbutted his girlfriend after she told him their relationship was over, a court was told.
Bradfield, 20, of The Lymers, Yatesbury, near Calne, admitted a breach of the peace at Munnelly's Bar, in Southbroom Road, Devizes, on October 22.
Diane Walker, prosecuting, told Devizes magistrates on Monday that Bradfield's relationship with Paula Lynstone had been breaking down for some time.
On the Saturday evening they went out together and Miss Lynstone told Bradfield their relationship was at an end.
He refused to accept it but during the evening Miss Lynstone met an old school friend and ended up kissing him.
Mrs Walker said Bradfield headbutted Miss Lynstone very hard in the face.
She went to hospital but discharged herself without being seen.
The court was told the attack left her with a swollen nose, two black eyes and some loosened teeth.
But she withdrew allegations of assault against her former boyfriend, saying it was out of character for Bradfield to act in that way.
Defending, duty solicitor John Elliott said that his client now accepted the relationship was at an end.
Mr Elliott said Bradfield would not have behaved in the manner he did if he hadn't been drinking.
He said Bradfield had not been able to apologise to Miss Lynstone because one of his bail conditions was to have no contact with her, but as soon as he could he would do so.
Presiding magistrate Sarah Phillips said the bench had concerns over this kind of violence. However, as Bradfield had a clean record and had expressed remorse he would be bound over to be of good behaviour, particularly towards Miss Lynstone, for 12 months in the sum of £200.
