FORMER Wootton Bassett councillor and veteran campaigner Eric Hodges, 70, is recovering well after suffering a slight stroke.
Mr Hodges was taken ill at his home in Wootton Bassett early last week three days after receiving an award for clocking up 100 hours of viewing CCTV footage at the town's central control room.
He was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital, Swindon, but last weekend visitors found him in good spirits, and anticipating an early return home.
"People have been extremely kind, and I have received so many good wishes and cards," he said .
"Fortunately I have suffered a bleed, not a clot, so I can still move my hand, although I can't write at present.
"My right leg is affected, too, but I am hoping to get some physiotherapy which should improve matters. "
His memory seemed unimpaired and he chatted in his usual animated way. "I know that some people arrange their own funerals," he said. "But I haven't done anything of the kind."
