Bemerton Heath Harlequins manager Steve Slade took time out from the day-to-day running of the club this week to "consider his options".

Slade, who has been in charge of Heath's first team for 12 years, threatened to quit the club last week after seeing his side knocked out of the Russell Cotes Cup by lowly Pirelli General.

Angered by such a humiliating exit from the competition and by some recent poor league performances from his side, Slade is believed to have left the Jewson Wessex League club's Western Way ground after Tuesday'defeat in disgust and ready to quit as first team boss.

Although he refused to discuss the situation fully until he had spoken with his players, Slade said he had become very frustrated by his side's apparent lack of commitment.

"I happen to think the first team squad is a fairly decent one despite our recent results," he said. "But for whatever reason it's just not happening on the pitch at the moment.

"All I will say is that I'm considering all options about my future involvement with Bemerton Heath Harlequins first team."
