TIDWORTH workers have been left in dire financial straits, owed up to £2,000 in wages, after the office they worked in closed down without warning.

Telecommunications company Euro Digital closed its doors on October 12. Shocked administrative and customer service staff were issued with a memo telling them their jobs were no more.

Julie Tabone, of Allanbrooke Road, Larkhill, said: "I did the accounts and I knew that the company was in a bit of a state but there was no warning of what was going to happen."

Marie Potter, of Poores Road, Durrington, said: "I have lost my bank account because all my direct debits and standing orders bounced. I am living on borrowed money."

Pauline Door, of Hampshire Close, Bulford, said: "All we want now is the money we are entitled to."

Seven office staff were affected by the closure, as well as managers and mobile salesmen and engineers.

But former managing director Adrian King said: "The directors are all in exactly the same situation as the staff. We didn't even pay ourselves for the last three months.

"This is not something one ever wants to happen."
