THE Pewsham estate in Chippenham is like a small town. It has a community centre, doctors' surgery, chemist, chinese takeaway, video rental shop, small supermarket, post office and school.

But there is not one zebra crossing. There are implied crossing points drop kerbs with dimple paving slabs , one of which, at the bottom of Forest Lane has a bus stop on top of it and everybody knows one of the most dangerous places to cross the road is from behind a bus.

Please could the highways department explain the reason for this? Without crossings pedestrians have no priority over the car.
