A PENSIONER from Warminster was conned out of £80 after being duped into letting two men who claimed to be from the water board into her house.
The 77-year-old, of West Parade, let two men into the rear of her house after they told her they were investigating a burst pipe in the area on Tuesday.
One man went upstairs to test the tap while the other man searched the house for money.
Warminster police have warned people to be on the lookout for distraction burglars operating in the town.
Insp Geoffrey Miles said: "The two men refused to show identity cards but claimed they were from the water board.
"They never stop. We get a few and then they stop but the floods were the perfect excuse.
"People must ring to check identity before letting them into their house."
