THE parents of Christopher Randall have spoken out at the torture they have gone through since their son was arrested for murder eight months ago.
Hazel and Jimmy Randall, of Myrtle Avenue, Warminster, whose son started a life sentence last week, have also hit out at what they say are terrible lies and deny he had a fascination with serial killers or black magic.
Mrs Randall, 49, described the pain she has suffered since the night her son admitted he had killed Danny Doherty.
She said: "Some of the things that have been said after the trial have been so hurtful.
"It all really hurt, we had gone through an awful trial and I didn't think any parent could hurt like that.
"Even if he liked black magic, he didn't practice it. He liked horror films but that doesn't mean anything."
Speaking about Randall's former girlfriend Louise Scott, who had his baby eight weeks ago, Mrs Randall admitted they will not be pushing her to be allowed to see the baby.
She said: "We would love to see our grandchild but we don't want to drive her from her family. I had to ask Louise's mother in Safeway about the baby and how it is getting on. She has hurt Christopher too much, he doesn't want to see his baby.
"We are serving the same sentence as Christopher and it breaks my heart to see him behind bars.
"I really don't know how he will cope with being in jail."
She added: "We are ashamed and embarrassed by the whole situation. It takes a lot for me to go down town but everybody has been really supportive.
"Going to the court case we felt physically sick, we were totally dreading it. Chris said when he was taken out of our house that night, he knew he would be punished.
"I still cannot believe he did it; in the prison he is like a little boy lost."
Adopting Christopher and his brother Johnathan, 17, in 1984, Mrs Randall remembered how her son was always full of life.
She said: "He didn't settle very well in school and was always up to mischief."
Randall is currently being held in Gloucester holding prison and is due to be moved on to a more permanent location in a few weeks to serve his sentence.
