MELKSHAM is in the running for new money designed to improve the town.
The Regional Development Agency now has to decide whether the town, or Devizes, should be selected for a pilot project.
The money has been made available by the government through the agency as part of the £25m single regeneration budget.
Wiltshire has missed out on money in the past, but now the agency has agreed £35,000 towards preparing a bid for cash.
