PROSPECTS for rugby at the Recreation Ground this weekend are higher than they were earlier in the week when Bath's pitch was completely under water.
At the height of the floods at the start of the week, there seemed to be no chance of tomorrow's cup tie against Gloucester going ahead.
By midday yesterday, however, and despite further torrential rain, most of the standing water had gone.
Spokeswoman Helen Mercer said last night that the club's pessimism had slowly turned to optimism as the week went on.
She said: "Pictures of the sodden Rec were shown all over the country and Bath Rugby bosses were very doubtful of any game being played for some time.
"However, the ducks have now gone and there is little sign of water on the pitch.
"Things are looking a lot more hopeful."
The club has scheduled a pitch inspection today.
