A WOMAN who threw a wine glass at her former friend, leaving her with cuts on her face, appeared before north west Wiltshire magistrates in Trowbridge on Thursday.
Yumi Ash, 31, of St Thomas Road, Trowbridge, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm in an incident at The Hungry Horse in Yarnbrook in July.
Colin Meeke, prosecuting, said Ash threw the glass at her former friend after a heated argument in the pub.
He said: "Mrs Ash picked up her empty wine glass and threw it at the victim, hitting her in the face.
"The glass shattered and caused injuries to her chin.
"Various witnesses described the throwing of the glass, one saying the arm was thrown back and the glass thrown with some force very close to the face."
He added: "She thought the glass would bounce off her face and she had thrown the glass in a temper.
"This is more a case of the glass being thrown at random rather than a deliberate attempt to injure."
Alex Daymond, defending, said Ash's actions were reckless rather than deliberate and said psychiatric reports were being prepared.
He said: "There were various difficulties at home involving her friendship with the injured party.
"Mrs Ash did not intend the injuries to result as they did."
The case was adjourned for Ash to be committed to Swindon Crown Court. Ash was released on conditional bail.
