A CARPENTER has recorded a song to raise cash for this month's Children In Need.
But he is no relation to the famous double act of the 70s he is woodwork expert turned singer-songwriter Chris Meek, from Upper Stratton.
Chris, 54, took the inspiration for his song The Reluctant Tyg (A schoolboy's Lament) from Terry Wogan's early morning radio show.
It is a comical play on the presenter's labelling of schoolchildren as Terry's Young Geezers, or Tygs, whom he claims hate listening to his show when being ferried to school by their parents.
Chris, a devoted listener to the show since the 70s and member of The Tudor Show Band, said it was a bit of fun which would hopefully raise a lot of money for the cause.
"I recorded it on CD with my friend, Andy Brandon, in his bedroom in Hereford and I think it's come out well," he said.
"I took 15 CDs along to a gig at Blunsdon on Saturday and sold out I could have sold 50. Now I'm hoping to make some more, but it's still available on cassette."
The cassettes are available at £1 each from Jeff Kempster's Music Shop in Commercial Road and Shrivenham Post Office or by calling Chris on Swindon 823231.
