FINNISH international Marko Tuomela has been told he has no future at the County Ground.
The giant defender will return to his Norwegian club Tromso after attending today's match at the County Ground.
He could be followed out of the door by striker Charlie Griffin who is on the verge of joining Conference side Woking.
Caretaker boss Andy King, who could be made permanent manager if Town win today, has agreed terms with Woking but Griffin has yet to agree.
Tuomela's future was secured before King took over and he admitted that it was best for the player to leave now.
"To be fair the Marko situation was well advanced before I took over and we had already explained that the move would not be made permanent," he said. "I just did not see any point in Marko staying here at the club for the next five weeks and not getting a game. I like to be honest and open with my players and it was better for him to go home and join his family.
"Things have not worked out for him here at Swindon, but he will be at the game today to say goodbye to the lads and we all wish him well for the future."
King was, however, heavily involved with the decision to let Griffin join Woking.
The former Chippenham Town forward has scored two goals since joining the Cardinals on a months loan and now a deal, worth a nominal sum, has been agreed between the two clubs.
Griffin, signed by Jim Quinn in 1998, was hailed as the next big thing out of non-league. But the jump to the big time always proved a little too big.
He scored bags goals in reserve team football but always struggled when given his first team chance.
Now it seems his days at Town are over.
King said: "I asked him if he wanted to stay with Swindon Town and play for me or if he wanted to go to Woking and he said he felt it would be better to leave.
"As far as I am concerned that is the end of the matter. If he does not want to play for Swindon Town then that is his decision. I was quite happy to let him see out the month at Woking and then for him to come back and have a crack at the first team.
"He has scored goals in the reserves and I felt he could have had another go at first team level."
King is in charge of his third match today and will recall Sol Davis at left back and Bobby Howe into midfield. David Duke and Mark Robertson will give way.
Chairman Terry Brady has been impressed with the improvement under King and it is believed that the caretaker boss is favourite to succeed in the footsteps of Colin Todd.
Brady said: "He has been a breath of fresh air around this club for the past week or so and I have been delighted with the way the players have responded to him.
"We have said goodbye to Marko and Charlie and that does leave space in the wage bill for another couple of players if Andy feels that he needs them.
"I hope the fans come out and give us their support today. I was disappointed with the crowd on Tuesday night and I would hope for an improvement."
