A goal from Peter Moss three minutes from time enabled Premier leaders Highworth Town to gain a 2-1 victory over bottom but one side Wantage Town.
Wantage started well and Highworth keeper Antony Betterton was called upon to deal with a couple of good early efforts from the visitors.
The home side received a blow on 25 minutes when striker Justin Miller had to leave the field with a hamstring injury, sub Robbie Etherington coming on and opening the scoring almost immediately. Andy Woollen sent Moss racing down the right and his cross was met by Etherington at the far post for a simple tap in.
With Moss looking dangerous, Highworth began to create plenty of chances but the final touch was missing and at the break they led 1-0.
Wantage took control for the opening 20 minutes of the second half with Ben Spiero going close on several occasions. At the other end Andy Woollen saw his header hit the bar and from the rebound Etherington also headed against the woodwork.
On 79 minutes Wantage gained a deserved equaliser when Betterton failed to gather a cross to the penalty area and the ball dropped to Spiero to fire into an empty net.
Two minutes later Moss broke clear and was brought down in the box and Dave Webb's penalty was well saved by Paul Belcher in the Wantage goal.
Three minutes from time a good move between Adie Roper and Keith Walker put Moss through to shoot past the keeper to give Highworth the lead.
In the last minutes of the game Wantage were awarded a penalty and a chance to share the points but Ben Spiero's penalty sent the keeper the wrong way but hit the post enabling the leaders to pick up a fortunate three points.
