A firework display in Old Town went off with a bang in spite of the weather.
Thousands of people flocked to the Swindon Lions Club display held in the Polo Ground, off Marlborough Road on Saturday night.
The event, which raised around £10,000 for different local charities, included a funfair and food stands.
John West, the chairman of the Lions fireworks committee, said: "We had a massive crowd come along and the fireworks were absolutely awesome.
"With the weather it was touch and go. There were areas of the Polo Ground which we kept the crowds away from.
"We had to have a long debate on Wednesday whether it would go ahead or not but as we discovered the Polo Ground is a very resilient area and in the end there were no problems at all.
"We even had people coming from as far away as Birmingham because their displays had been cancelled."
