South Swindon MP Julia Drown is joining The Cancer Research Campaign to launch a national appeal to raise awareness at Government level.
The charity wants to keep cancer high on the political agenda and to reinforce the need for 600 specialists and 600 nurses over the next three years.
Ms Drown said: "Cancer affects so many peoples' lives.
"Sufferers and their families all hope for better treatments and for cures to be found.
"The Government has recognised and invested in cancer services. Cancer Research is right to keep this high on the agenda. Tackling cancer is one of the big challenges of the new century."
