Wootton Bassett put on a spectacular firework event, but the weekend's takings disappointed Woodshaw Entertainers, whose likely losses on the display and their Sunday concert could total £600.
Despite the cancellation of many other displays, including Lydiard Park's, the Wootton Bassett bonfire, fireworks and barbecue went ahead at the Canal Field, off Marlborough Road, on Saturday.
An estimated 350 spectators watched the display. Woodshaw Entertainers chairman Mike Holmes said: "The turnout was very disappointing. We expected a much bigger crowd."
Woodshaw Entertainers, volunteers who put on social events for local people, had another setback on Sunday when The Wurzels could not reach Wootton Bassett to star at the Memorial Hall.
