MARTIN Williams is not concerned which part of his anatomy is finally responsible for ending his goalscoring drought.
The Town striker earned praise from new boss Andy King for his performance against Wrexham and the former Reading man is hopeful his contribution will help secure his long-term future at the County Ground.
The 27-year-old was instrumental in setting up Town's first goal and his pace caused constant discomfort for a Wrexham side with an impressive record on their travels.
Williams saw one acrobatic effort tipped over the bar and was unlucky on several other occasions as he enjoyed another night of near misses against Brian Flynn's side.
It is now 11 matches since his last goal but he remains positive that the situation will change.
He said: "It's the story of my life at the minute. I am getting quite a few chances, which is good, so hopefully I'll hit the back of the net sooner rather than later.
"Danny (Invincible) is reaping the rewards at the moment so at least one of us is scoring, which takes a bit of pressure off."
Williams has scored just twice since arriving at the club in the summer both in Town's 3-2 win at Luton in September.
His team-mates have been pulling the striker's leg about his lack of goals but they appreciate the valuable contribution he is making to Town's revival under Andy King.
"A few of the boys have been saying I just need to score with a shinner and that will get me going again. As long as I feel I am playing my part and putting myself about, I'm sure the goals will come sooner or later," he said.
Williams has until February to earn himself a longer term contract at the club, having suffered an injury just before his transfer from Reading in the summer.
"I'd like to think my future is here at Swindon. I've come here and am enjoying my time. I know I've got until February. I'd like to have scored a few more goals but I think I'm playing quite well so I've just got to see how it goes under the new boss," said Williams.
The Town striker said he was delighted with the official appointment of the new 'gaffer.'
"I think it's brilliant. All the lads will be rooting for him. Since he became caretaker we've picked up a little bit. We should have won today. There's a lot more spirit and we look like a decent team."
Williams may not have scored but he was directly responsible for setting up Town's first equaliser, scored by Danny Invincible.
The Australian celebrated his seventh goal of the campaign against Wrexham.
"We're a little bit disappointed that we didn't come away with the win, said Invincible. "We gave away two silly goals. But we created chances, which is a real positive. We haven't lost at home for three games which is also a positive."
Invincible forced the ball into the net despite the close attention of Wrexham defender Paul Mardon.
There was even a suggestion the Wrexham man may have got the final touch.
The Town man was having none of it.
"I just threw my body into it. It may have caught my hand a little bit, but a goal's a goal," he said.
Invincible praised the effort and commitment of strike partner Williams.
"If it wasn't for Martin Williams I wouldn't have scored my goal and I think he could have had a couple himself. He was unlucky with a scissor kick and to be honest, he was fantastic tonight," said the Aussie front man.
Invincible praised Williams for the chances he was creating for colleagues and said there was no reason for his strike partner to feel down.
"He's working hard for
the team and we're getting results.
"I'm sure he'd like to get a few goals but as long as we're getting goals as a team, that's what matters."
