COUNCILLOR Philip Allnatt is taking it easy this week after collapsing at a meeting during a heated debate.
Wiltshire county councillor Mr Allnatt, of Lady Coventry Road, Chippenham, was rushed to hospital after he fainted at an environment and transport committee meeting at County Hall, Trowbridge, on Wednesday November 1.
"I had a huge muscle spasm and was in acute pain. I must have fainted," he said.
"I was just talking and then I lost it completely.
"Apparently I asked for a glass of water but the next thing I knew I was in Trowbridge Hospital."
Coun Allnatt, who often suffers from such spasms, though not so seriously, was discharged from hospital on the same day.
He joked he must have been stressed out by something someone had said.
"I was quite enjoying myself actually," said Coun Allnatt, who had been speaking on his views about changing the county's structure plan to prevent there being too much development in north Wiltshire.
The Liberal Democrat councillor, who represents the Chippenham Town division, said he will not be attending council meetings for at least a week and will be having some blood tests done.
