SERVICES and parades will be held throughout the region to remember the dead of two world wars.
Calne, the Remembrance Day parade, made up of representatives of the Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Association, Royal Air Forces Association, Army Cadets, Air Training Corps, 1st Calne Scout Group, British Red Cross, the Girl Guides and Calne Silver Band, will assemble at The Green and at 9.45am will march to St Mary's Church.
The Scouts, Girl Guides and British Red Cross will compete for the annual Millennium Trophy for the best turned out and smartest on parade.
The service of rememberance, lead by Rev Bob Kenway, will start at 10am and be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph in the church grounds for the 11am silence.
Schoolchildren will link hands around the war memorial to form a circle of remembrance during the two-minutes' silence for the first time in the parade's history.
The parade will march back down Church Street to the town hall where mayor Eric Porter will take the salute, accompanied by members of the three armed forces.
Chippenham, Two minutes' silence will be observed at the entrance to Emery Gate shopping centre on Saturday, at 11.11am. The ceremony will be led by standard bearers from the RBL and the Sea Cadets.
A service of remembrance will be held at St Andrew's Church, Chippenham, on Sunday at 11am.
People wishing to attend are advised to take their places at about 10.40am before the arrival of the Mayor of Chippenham Sandie Webb and her party. Royal British Legion members and representatives from armed forces organisations will be in attendance.
Corsham, Remembrance Sunday will be marked with a parade at 10.05am, starting outside the Royal British Legion Club and proceeding to St Bartholomew's Church. The 13 contingents will include members of the Royal British Legion, the RAF, the Air Training Corps, Scouts, Guides and the St John Ambulance. The service starts at 11am.
Sutton Benger, service of remembrance at All Saints Church, at 10.50 am.
Malmesbury, the town branch of the Royal British Legion is hosting a performance by the Wroughton Silver Band in aid of the Poppy Appeal in Malmesbury Abbey at 7.15pm tomorrow. It will be followed by a short Remembrance Service. Admission is £3. For details ring Norman Clark on (01666) 822576. On Sunday the RBL will hold a remembrance service at the Remembrance Gates in the Lower High Street at 10am. There will also be an afternoon service in Malmesbury Abbey at 2.30pm; Hullavington, service of remembrance, 10.50am, parish church.
Wootton Bassett, Saturday, Royal British Legion standards will be paraded at 10.45am prior to the act of remembrance and two minutes' silence, town hall precinct 11am; Sunday, RBL parade assembles to march via High Street to church, The Lawns, 2.05pm; service, St Bartholomew's Church, 2.45pm, followed by parade.
Highworth, a remembrance service will be held at St Michael's Church, 10am. It will be followed by the two minutes' silence and the laying of wreaths at the war memorial. Prior to the service the procession will leave the library car park at 9.45am.
Hannington, a remembrance service will be held in St John the Baptist Church, 10.30am; Stanton Fitzwarren, act of remembrance followed by Holy Communion will be held in St Leonard's Church, 11am.
Devizes, mayor Tim Price will lead his guests, including MP Michael Ancram and Recorder of Devizes Judge John McNaught, from the town hall to St John's Church for a service of remembrance beginning at 10.50am on Sunday. The parade including members of the Royal British Legion, the Army Cadet Force, the Air Training Corps, Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies will form in the Market Place at 10.30am before marching to the church.
