WILTSHIRE County Council and North Wiltshire District Council are consulting locals on a scheme aimed at improving conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.
These include residents and schoolchildren who travel along Hungerdown Lane in Chippenham.
The proposals are outlined in a consultation plan leaflet and include measures such as increased numbers of pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes in the carriageway and tighter junctions to control vehicle speeds both entering and travelling along Hungerdown Lane.
The proposal has emerged following discussions between county, district and town councils.
Nik Dixon, Wiltshire County Council's principal traffic engineer, said: "This is an opportunity for local people to help shape the finalised scheme, by taking a few moments to consider the plan and complete our questionnaire.
"We are seeking veiws on the various elements contained within the draft proposals, and local votes for or against certain featres will help to determine whether they make the final scheme."
The consultation leaflet will be delivered to homes this week. The information can also be obtained from Chippenham Town Hall, or a copy can be ordered by telephoning the CLARENCE hotline on 0800 232323. The scheme is planned for spring next year, with joint funding from the county and district councils.
