IN a depleted programme just three games were played in the Premier section with five other games surviving in the remaining leagues.

In the Premier Division, Marlborough Town were glad their game got the go-ahead when they defeated Corsham Town Reserves 3-2 to register their first victory of the season.

Former racehorse trainer Rod Simpson, manager of Marlborough, was delighted with his young side's victory.

The win will be a great boost for the lads and the three points took us off the bottom of the table. I am really very pleased for the side."

Marlborough fell behind to a Frankie Roger goal early in the game and Corsham had a great chance to have gone further ahead from the penalty spot but Town keeper Chris Patterson made a good save.

Marlborough equalised soon after, Steve Dean making his penalty count.

After the break a good individual strike from Robin Simpson put the home side in front but back came Corsham to equalise again through Rogers.

Richard Jackson became the Town's hero scoring the winner in the closing stages for a deserved victory.

Shrewton United gained a 4-0 win over an improving Pewsey Vale side. Shrewton's Micky Ball was brought down in the box and Jessie Walters gave United an interval lead from the spot. Anton Brownless added a second soon after the restart.

The Pewsey keeper could only parry a good header from Stuart Mulford and Brownless was on hand to bundle the ball over the line. Pewsey suffered a setback when they had their keeper sent off for handling outside the area. Brownless and Dean Foot added further goals for United.

Just one game was played in the Intermediate section, Mitel beating visitors Down Ampney 7-1.

Sean Freeman was in fine form for the home side scoring five, Steve Webb and Mark Conley adding one apiece.

In Junior Division One, leaders Wroughton Reserves kept up their impressive run with a 6-0 away win over Burmah Castrol Reserves.

Ian Pickering and Steve Westall gave the visitors a two-goal lead, Glenn Armstrong missing from the spot just before the break.

Armstrong made amends early in the second half adding two more goals with Paul Bowden scoring a fifth and Armstrong completing his hat-trick in the closing stages to bring his tally of goals to 23 so far this season.

Goals from Mark Bennett, Wayne Long and Tas Tsokos gave Aldbourne Reserves a 3-1 win over Ferndale Rodbourne.

Marshfield gained an exciting 5-3 win over Blunsdon United Reserves, Russell Brookman, Gary Pearce, Andre Hampton, Danny Edwards and Richard Lock scoring for the victors and Wayne Watts netting three for United.

In the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup, West Swindon beat Minety 3-2.
