THE weather again caused the postponement of five Trowbridge League fixtures (sponsored by Just Signs Trowbridge) and five ties involving local clubs in the Wiltshire Junior Cup.
In division two leaders Broughton Gifford Reserves maintained their excellent start to the season with a 2-1 win at Lavington and Easterton. Rob Jenks put Lavington ahead with Royston Aust equalising before the interval. Richard Moules got Broughton's winner before the visitors had Nick Bush and Andy York sent off in separate incidents.
Rudloe, leading in division three, also maintained their 100 per cent start with a 4-2 victory at home to Bromham Reserves.
Westbury United A raced into a 5-0 lead within an hour at home to Seend United Reserves. Rob O'Harrow scored the best goal of the game for Seend on 73 minutes with substitute Simon Hatfield getting a second for the visitors five minutes from the end.
Avon Bradford Reserves closed the gap on leaders Rudloe with a 2-0 win over a strong Hilperton United Reserves.
Castle Combe West End were among the successful local sides in the Wilts Junior Cup. West End trounced visitors Walcot Old Boys 15-0. Jamie Winks hit seven goals and Scott McMullen got five.
Dursley Arms travelled to Bromham and went behind after 10 minutes but took control after the break to win 3-1.
Two clubs, Freshford United and Heytesbury required sudden death penalty kicks to ensure their places in the next round. After being locked at 1-1 through time United keeper Chris Birleson saved Rowde's seventh penalty. Ryan Mortimer sent United through with his successful spot-kick.
Heytesbury at home to Allied Goodheart missed a penalty in extra-time but got an equaliser on 118th minutes through Mark Gunter.
The penalty competition ended 4-4, Derek Cundick hit Heytesbury's sixth penalty with Allied hitting a post with their sixth effort.
Apetito were the only losers going down 7-2 at Netheravon.
