THE latest arrival at Marlborough police station is just at home in the Australian outback as he is on the Wiltshire downs.
Before joining the Wiltshire force three years ago PC Andy Sexton served for five years with the Victorian Federal Police in Australia.
He was married to a Wiltshire woman and returned with her when she became homesick for her family in the Pewsey Vale. They have one child with another on the way.
PC Sexton is the new beat officer for the Ogbournes, Aldbourne and Baydon and said he has been enjoying finding his way around since taking over from PC Ivor Noyce at the weekend. PC Noyce remains at Marlborough as a response officer.
The new arrival said there were differences between policing in Australia and in Britain.
PC Sexton said: "We are a lot more patient here and we don't carry guns."
Until being transferred to join Insp Bill Dowling's team at Marlborough he was community officer for two years on the Bemerton Heath estate in Salisbury. He said: "I have swapped the wall to wall homes of the housing estate for fields and farmland."
