South Swindon MP Julia Drown has welcomed figures which show a continued rise in the number of childcare places.

The latest Government figures show that a further 32,000 childcare places have been created nationally as part of Labour's National Childcare Strategy.

The Labour MP said: "This is very welcome news especially as I recently met with parents to talk about childcare.

"The latest figures available show that for Swindon a further 171 new places have been created in the town."

"At the same we are also seeing the impact locally of National Lottery money in childcare.

"I was very pleased to see the recent announcement of £8,900 for the Cleeve Lawns playgroup which will help extend the capacity of the playgroup."
