HUGH Pym says in his letter in the Gazette on November 2 that the BSE scandal will be forever associated with the Conservatives in office.
But as far as I am concerned I shall always associate it with those farmers who fed such disgusting food to their animals.
My husband worked for 25 years in a job which involved making deliveries to farms and some of the practices he witnessed were stomach churning.
It is unacceptable to chop up dead animals and feed them back to the rest of the stock.
Also they fed the animals the cheapest feeds, which contained goodness knows what.
I saw a lady farmer on television recently and she said that she had always fed her animals the best food and had never had a case of BSE , yet even though she had lost a lot of money she wouldn't get compensation.
It is farmers like this I feel sorry for but others have brought things on themselves.
Also if farmers are as poor as they claim, why do they pay their workers overtime to work on Sundays?
Wherever you go at the weekend you will see tractors either holding up traffic on the roads, or working in the fields.
