Cheltenham 0, W Bassett Under-14's 10: Bassett maintained their 100 per cent record with an impressive win at Cheltenham.
However, they did not have everything their own way.
For the first time in over a year Bassett found the opposition forwards more than a match and had to compete up the slope.
They needed some fine cover tackles by backs Oliver Gray, Wayne Barrett and Karl Brant to prevent the home side from getting to the line as it looked like Cheltenham would be the first to open the scoring.
With an exciting first half surprisingly ending without score, Bassett captain Jonathan Aston rallied his forwards for the opening of the second period and for the first time in the match Bassett enjoyed an amount of sustained pressure.
This culminated in right-wing Wayne Barrett breaking the deadlock with a neatly taken try in the corner and his score set Bassett on their way.
Cheltenham were far from beaten at this stage and challenged hard into the final five minutes.
A moment of sheer brilliance initiated by a few clever kicks by impressive scrum half Daniel Cameron led to a central scrum and some 30m out from the home team's line.
With scrum ball secured, Bassett's outside-half Daniel David set off on a ghosting diagonal run, selling four dummy scissors and a clean pass to leave full back Karl Brant to sweep in unopposed.
