Well here it is folks, the FA Vase. Hands up who thinks tomorrow's game will be easy?
Talking to some people and by the reaction of the local bookmakers, you would think we only had to turn up to go through to the next round. What utter rubbish. Tomorrow will be our hardest game of the season. Yate Town are a vastly improved side who will be giving it everything to knock us out.
In their side they had three former Bluebirds, Darren Hobbs, who was a substitute for us at Wembley, Martin Boyle, who until a couple of weeks ago was with us, and Tony Fortte, who is best mates with Mark Cutler and played for us at the start of last season.
They are jointly managed by ex-Paulton Rovers central midfielder Gary Hewlett and Taunton Town defender and man mountain Richard Thompson. Both are very experienced and will no doubt be looking forward to the clash.
Injury worries
We are still suffering form injuries, the latest being Dave Bright who will almost certainly miss the game. Steve Tweddle is back from a suspension but will also miss the game as he is still injured.
Last season, our run in the FA Vase was beyond all of our wildest dreams.
The two games against Bedlington Terriers and the two semi-finals against Vauxhall were unbelievable.
The final itself, well you cannot put it into words what that was like and the reception we received back home on the Sunday was different class.
No one in England can want another decent run in this competition more than me, to appear on all the major TV channels including Sky, to have articles in the national papers and to be on the radio every day is what we do this job for.
Financially for the club, a good run could see us raise the money we will need to continue our development, but believe me, the pressure on Saturday at 2:45 will be almost unbearable.
Please get behind the lads as I know with your support, we will have a chance of progressing.
Bluebirds in control
Last Saturday we played OK against Warminster and we were always the side in command.
But credit to Warminster, they kept a tight ship and made it difficult for us to break them down.
Some people have said they were surprised that Warminster didn't just go for it in the last 30 minutes, but I believe if they had, and lost by maybe four or five, it could have damaged their morale for their big FA Vase tie tomorrow. I wish them well and will be looking out for the result, so long as we have won.
Charlie on the move
It looks like Swindon Town have sold Charlie Griffin to Woking for a reported £15,000. This is good news for Charlie who was given no chance by Swindon. The main question I would have is why did they bother signing him? He was a local lad who should have been given more chance. He will definitely still be a success and I hope he comes back one day to prove them wrong.
