A BUS DRIVER was beaten and robbed of his takings in a vicious attack, which he describes as the worst incident in his 10-year career.
Gordon Cargill, 33, of Warminster, was beaten around the head and punched several times in the face by a robber, who stole his takings bag containing more than £70.
Mr Cargill admitted that he was left stunned and horrified by the attack.
He said: "I was shocked more than anything that anyone would do something like this.
"You don't know what they could be carrying, he could have had a weapon and before you know it he could have stuck something in me.
"I am not going to do the route any more."
The attack happened near Imber Road as Mr Cargill was working for his parents' company, Davron Coaches, based in Upper Marsh Road.
The robber told him to stop the bus before punching him and running off
with the money towards the town centre.
The robber is described as being in his early 20s, 5ft 7ins tall, and of medium build. He was wearing a dark jacket and hat.
He boarded the bus outside Somerfield, in Market Place about 1pm on Friday afternoon.
DC Mike Brown, of Warminster CID, said the attack was a concern as the offender was still on the loose.
"He could do it again and it leaves the other bus drivers exposed to the same type of actions and also taxi drivers are at risk, as they carry more money."
