SCREWFIX LEAGUE
Corsham Town 1, Torrington 2
CORSHAM Town came out second best in a First Division game that revolved around penalties.
The home side went ahead through a James Griffin penalty in the first half and took the lead into the break.
Corsham picked up where they left off and maintained their lead until giving the ball away in midfield, shortly after having a penalty appeal turned down by referee Janie Frampton.
Torrington broke and scored after a one-on-one with the keeper.
The home side were then awarded a second penalty but missed and with less than 10 minutes left, Torrington were awarded a penalty of their own and took the lead.
The incident-packed game also saw a red card for each side after a 17-man scuffle. Graham Ford was sent off for Corsham.
Corsham manager Rob Humphries said: "We should have sewn up the game before half time and had quite a few chances.
"If our second penalty appeal had been given, we would have been 2-0 up instead of being 1-1 after giving the ball away cheaply.
"We dominated for 70 minutes but then had 20 minutes of madness and the penalty we gave away was totally unnecessary.
"We are about 10th in the table because we have been drawing a lot of games and throwing a lot of leads away."
Corsham are at Bath tomorrow.
Devizes' Les Phillips Cup game against Frome Town was postponed, as were Backwell United v Melksham Town, and Minehead v Westbury United in the Premier Division.
Fixtures postponed on Tuesday were Downton v Devizes and Calne Town v Worle St Johns.
