TRIALS for boys aiming to be on the developmental England Under 14s team will be held at three locations across the country this month.
The players selected from the trials, held in London, Leicester and Manchester, will form the basis of the next Cadet squad. Players must be born in 1987 or later and be recommended by their school or coach in order to take part in the trials.
The first trial will be held on Sunday at the John Arwell Centre, St Catherine's Dock, London, from 11am to 2pm.
Cannons Health Club on University Road in Leicester will host thenext trial on November 18 from 5pm to 8pm.
The final trial will be held at the Trafford Basketball Centre on Mason Avenue in Manchester on November 19 from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
Head coach Bob McFadden said: "I will be visiting all areas that have under 14 teams.
"However I would also like to hear from potential players who do not participate within the national league framework but compete at a school level."
Mr McFadden and assistant PJ d'Rozario will choose between 20-25 trialists from the above trials.
Players will then embark on a six to nine month final selection process, during which time they will meet on the last weekend of every month for a series of training camps.
Mr McFadden hopes to get the developmental team into European competitions in the forthcoming year. Tournaments in England and Ireland are presently possibilities for the young men.
This is the first year that England have had a developmental squad for Under 14s.
Coaches and schools who wish to nominate a player should contact head coach Bob McFadden on 0116 224 1400 or by email on robertbb777@aol.com. Participation in any of the trials costs £2.
