THE final touches are being put to the Trowbridge bid for £250,000 government cash towards security cameras in the town.
The bid has to be submitted by December 20.
The scheme has been altered slightly following discussions with the Government Office for the south west.
The 13-camera system doubles what was originally planned and will cover the town centre's hot spots.
If it is to win government cash, the town needs to be able to show that the scheme is being backed financially by its businesses.
Town development manager Daryl Saville Brown said: "Our target is to raise £5,000 from the private sector and we are working towards that. The more we can show that businesses are supporting the bid, the better.
"If there are other businesses that can contribute, it would be very beneficial."
Knees store, in Fore Street, has pledged £2,500 and solicitors' firm Sylvester Mackett has promised £300.
