In response to Mr Gledhill's letter regarding the Gap road, could Mr Gledhill please let us villagers know how many times he wrote for the sake of his green views opposing the Paxcroft Mead development or how vigorously he protested the so-called bypass road being built?

Or are his present protests due to the fact that the Gap road will be built at his back door? I for one do not recall seeing Save our green fields petitions all over town, being signed by people from Calne, Corsham and far afield. Do they actually understand the facts?

Do they know about the congestion, structural damage and noise pollution the heavy goods vehicles are causing to our buildings?

Mr Gledhill omitted to mention that his Save the Gap petition was actually removed from one prominent store because of the amount of protests the store received.

Thanks for your opinions Mr Gledhill, but they are not universal.

Mrs Gwen Davies wrote (Wiltshire Times letters, November 3) about the signage for Bradford on Avon. Great. I'm all for saving historical buildings and using suitable roads; hopefully diverting the traffic to the B3105 would not mean even more vehicles going through our narrow unsuitable streets in Hilperton. Perhaps further signs by the Kings Arms would be appropriate to direct the traffic to Trowbridge thus pleasing all concerned.

Finally, a story in last week's Wiltshire Times stated that a group was being set up to look at proposals to extend the rural buffer between Hilperton and Paxcroft Mead. Could they please make themselves known to us, we are interested.

NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED.
