The Wiltshire Times appeal to help the Dorothy House Hospice at Winsley is being helped by a number of events in the run-up to Christmas.

We have joined forces with Latona Leisure, owners of the Leigh Park Hotel in Bradford on Avon, Tesco and Wiltshire County Council to raise the profile of the charity which helps terminally ill patients and their families.

Every week we will be featuring fundraising events and the work of the hospice.

It must raise £1m a year to keep running and relies heavily on money making events and donations.

Among those doing their bit for the hospice is well known Wiltshire artist Pam Mullings. She is to hold an exhibition on behalf of the hospice at Seend.

It will be the award-winning artist's 12th one woman exhibition.

She has raised over £10,000 for charities at previous events.

Ms Mullings paints mainly wildlife and nature scenes as both miniatures and larger works.

A variety of items will be on sale at the exhibition including prints, jigsaws and painted bone china mugs as well as her original paintings.

A raffle will be held and refreshments will be available.

It is to be held at The Pavilion, Seend, between 10am and 4.30pm on November 18 and 19. Admission is free.

Dorothy House will also be raising funds at a Christmas Craft Fair to be held in their Bloomfield Suite on November 25 and 26.

The hospice has recently received £3,000 from a golf day held at Kingsdown Golf Club on September 28.

The competition was sponsored by Bath-based Fairfield Insurance, in memory of the late Peter Taylor.

The winners were Val Hazelwood and Mike Warren from Kingsdown.

An auction next week will help raise money for the hospice.

The auction takes place at Gardiner and Houlgate in Corsham and a collection of Hornby train paraphernalia is to auctioned.

Spokesman Lucy Curwen said the auction house expected a lot of interest in the train collection and in a number of lead farm animals and buildings.

The auction takes place on November 16 at 10.30am.

Vince Pidgeley from Westbury, whose wife was helped during the last weeks of her life by the hospice, is organising a race night on November 24.
