TRADERS in Bradford on Avon are gearing up for the festive season, with preparations under way for the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for the lighting-up ceremony on November 28 and this year's guests will be Tony the Tiger from Kellogg's and swimming star Nick Gillingham.
Yvonne Harris, of Bradford Chamber of Commerce, said: "The lights will be switched on at 6pm and many of the shops will be open until 8pm. There will be Christmas trees on the shops and lights will be up in Westbury Gardens and the Bullpit. It is also hoped there will be some stalls from the Farmers' Market.
Father Christmas in his grotto, Trowbridge Youth Band and the Holy Trinity Church Choir will be helping people get into the festive spirit.
Mrs Harris said: "We did very well last year. It was really busy. We are hoping to make it a real family occasion."
The Christmas lights are paid for by the Chamber of Commerce with help from shop keepers and a grant from Bradford Town Council.
