The Royal National Institute for the Blind is urgently appealing for talking book volunteers in Swindon.
Volunteers play a vital role in choosing from over 12,000 titles and will have the satisfaction of knowing that they will be helping blind and partially sighted people retain more independence. They will also help members operate talking book players, at the same time providing company to those who may sometimes feel isolated.
The current equipment is soon to be replaced with a specially designed CD player.
Anyone can volunteer and decide how much time they want to give anything from a few hours a month.
Training will be provided and all expenses will be reimbursed. Training will allow volunteers to develop the skills they need to advise blind and partially sighted people on the talking book service and other RNIB products and services.
Helen Longley, RNIB's volunteer development officer, said: "Imagine the satisfaction of knowing that your help has opened up a whole new world and provided independence and enjoyment for a blind or partially sighted person."
