BOBBY Howe has been told to ignore the boo boys and keep on playing the game his way.
Manager Andy King says he has no problems with the form of the midfielder and does not want him to feel downhearted.
Howe has been the target of fans' abuse in recent home matches.
But King says the player is doing a great job in his midfield and will continue to keep faith in him.
"I was sitting in the stands during the start of the Wycombe game and heard the moaning for the first time," said King.
"But I have no problems with Bobby Howe. The reason he makes mistakes is because he gets involved in the game. He picks up the second balls and does not go hiding when things go wrong.
"I have told Bobby that, for me, he is doing a top job and he will stay doing it until he stops getting involved. I don't mind him making mistakes because that means he is involved in the game."
King said he would rather have a player willing to get involved and make mistakes rather than one who fails to get his hands dirty in the engine room of Town's middle.
"The only players who never make mistakes are the ones who never get involved in the game," said King.
"I want players out there who take the responsibility, whether it is to pass, shoot or make a run. They are out there to do a job for me and I don't mind if they make the odd mistake.
"The fans are getting on Bobby's back a little at the moment, but he will come through it. When he does things and they come off he is a dangerous player. He could have scored on Tuesday night after that one-two with Danny Invincible, all he needs is a bit of luck and I won't let the fans' reaction get to him."
