NORTH Swindon MP Michael Wills was given a tour of an innovative Swindon project which helps severely disabled housebound people access the Internet from their home.
SCAMP (Swindon Comm-unication Project) installs computers in houses and also gives ongoing support to enable disabled people to have greater control and choice in their lives.
It began in 1997 with £35,000 from the Department for Edu-cation and Employment, and now has 400 users.
The project uses volunteers who help install the equipment and provide training.
Mr Wills said: "This is an excellent project which helps tackle the problems of social isolation often felt by disabled people. It improves their communication links, increasing their independence and allowing them to lead a more inclusive life in society."
