A PENSIONER was pushed to the ground by a mugger who stole her handbag.
The victim was approached from behind, as she walked along Alexandra Road, by a man who pushed her and grabbed hold of her bag.
The woman, 67, resisted and was pushed to the ground by the attacker who then ran off. The attack happened at about 10pm on Wednesday.
He is described as white, about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build and wearing dark coloured clothing, and a dark hat. The stolen shoulder bag was white, with gold stripes and contained a camera and a small amount of money.
Detective Nick Flowers said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who might have seen the attack. At that time there would have been quite a few people about in the area and it is possible that they would have noticed someone running along with a distinctive white and gold handbag."
Anyone with information should contact Detective Constable Nick Flowers on 528111 extension 522.
