A FORMER pupil of Moredon Infants School decided to go back and do some colouring-in when his own children joined the school.
Colin Greening, 32, of Moredon, was a pupil at the school years ago, but when his two children Danielle and Sophie joined, he decided he wanted to get involved again.
So he offered to paint a mural on one of the walls inside the school, featuring characters from the books some of the children are reading.
And the mural has not only brightened up the inside of the school, but it is also helping to encourage the youngsters to read more about the characters in the books.
Headteacher Anthea Hilson said the teachers and pupils are all delighted with the result.
"Mr Greening was speaking to one of the teachers and said that he had painted the bedroom walls at home for his children and we had this blank space which had been painted a cream colour, but we thought it needed brightening up a little bit," she said.
"We asked him to do the mural and the children have really enjoyed coming in to see how it has progressed. Now it looks great and the children are thrilled."
