ANDY King must delve into the transfer market this week after a pathetic defensive display from his side at Peterborough.

Some of the most abysmal football seen so far this season saw Town thumped 4-0 and fall into the bottom three, leaving new boss King with a huge task on his hands.

There was no doubt that King knew of the problems before he took on the task, but he would have hoped that the honeymoon period that greeted his take-over in recent weeks would have lasted a little longer.

The facts are that Swindon are letting in too many goals, far too often. While they do still look better up front, they will always be forced to play catch-up if they can't keep the opposition out at the other end of the field.

Saturday's display was, in King's own words, atrocious. And he will be forced to do something about it as he looks for new players.

"I will look to change it and it is up to the current squad then to fight it out among themselves who will play alongside the new players that I bring in," said King.

"The defending was atrocious. I knew that I needed to bring someone in as soon as possible. Things just happened before I had a chance to act. It is just a very big disappointment for us.

"We are not strong enough, they defended like wimps."

King was due to continue his search for new defenders today but said he would not be rushing into any decisions.
