A year long project to reduce the number of elderly patients admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital has been so successful it is being extended and used as a model for other hospitals to copy.
This is clearly good news and praise is due to all those involved, particularly senior social worker Andrea Davies, who has researched the hospital's accident and emergency department.
But surely if there was adquate care for the elderly in general, the need for such a scheme would not be necessary.
