A community club with a difference has celebrated its first birthday.
Gorse Hill Vision Club in Cricklade Road was set up to offer something for everybody.
It has two bars, facilities for children, regular live music and other entertainment and a kitchen where meals to suit all sections of the Gorse Hill population can be prepared.
After only a year, it has more than 1,200 members, and more than 300 went to Saturday's anniversary party.
Harold Wilby, who is in charge of booking the acts for entertainment nights, said: "It is a family club with no membership or admission fee, and it is progressing really well.
"It is the only family club in the area.
"There are about five other clubs, but they don't cater for children.
"As well as live entertainment, we have wide-screen television, function and conference rooms, and we can provide buffets for up to 100 people.
"We can cater for all social and business functions, and we are open seven days a week."
