People will be given the chance to have their say on plans for education in North Swindon, which include plans for up to seven new schools.

A series of public meetings have been organised by Swindon Bor-ough Council to give people the opportunity air their views on the plans for the north part of the town.

The first meeting will be held tomorrow at Abbey Meads Com-munity Primary School, a venue which has been chosen as being particularly suitable as it is the first of the new schools in the new development.

It is hoped that Michael Wills, MP for North Swindon, will be at the first meeting along with local councillors to listen to the views of local people.

The council's lead member for lifelong learning, Coun Chris Eley, said: "These meetings are an important chance for people to hear about a unique opportunity to improve education in the borough.

"As many people as possible should come along to the meetings and give their views so that the council's decision reflects the true wishes of all the people of Swindon."

There will be two meetings held tomorrow to allow for as many people as possible to hear proposals and give their views.

These will be held at 5.30pm and 7pm.

Another public meeting is also planned for people in the south of Swindon to have their say.

Local councillors and South Swindon MP Julia Drown should be at the meeting, which is planned for November 27 at 6.30pm in the council offices, Euclid Street.

In addition to these meetings, there will be a series of meetings at individual schools which are expected to be affected by the proposals, along with parish councils.

The issues raised by these meetings will be considered across the whole of the Swindon area, by the council's area panels.
