BART Griemink believes Town's players must not allow their shambolic display at Peterborough to destroy the progress they have made since Andy King's appointment.

The Dutch keeper was handed the captain's armband for the day but it was a miserable return to his former club.

As expected, Griemink received a less-than-friendly welcome from the Posh faithful but it was matters on the field which upset him most.

He said: "We didn't play well at all. It's a very disappointing result. If we lose, we lose all together as it's a team game. We changed the system to 4-4-2 in the second half but it just didn't happen. We were lax."

Town were unbeaten in four matches going into the game but the keeper confessed: "We didn't look very good today. But in football it is never good to stand still, and think too much about one game. There are a lot of matches. We have to pick ourselves up, get on with it and make sure we put in a good performance next week."

He said Andy King had told the players what he thought of the performance but the players themselves were well aware that the display was simply not good enough.

David Duke entered the fray as a half time substitute at London Road and the former Sunderland man said their was no hiding from such a bad performance.

He said: "We're all very disappointed, very disappointed with ourselves. Everything was a shambles today to be honest. The boss was not too chuffed. I suppose you have to put it down to a collective bad day."

Duke said a combination of bad defending and failure to produce anything upfront had cost Town the game.

"We weren't doing any of the things we have been doing so well in the last two or three games," he said.

The player said every team had one bad game once in a while and hoped that 'one' would prove to be Peterborough.

"Next week's game is a chance to get back on track again and get back to playing some good stuff," he said.

There was little opportunity for Danny Invincible to add to his goals tally at London Road on Saturday.

The Australian striker said: "We weren't strong enough upfront, we weren't getting in there in the midfield and we weren't passing the ball well. It was just one of those days where nothing went right."

The player said it had been a 'bad day at the office.'

"I think they (Peterborough) stepped up a gear from what they have been playing and they did play better football than us. We just have to go back and work on things," he said.
