Oxford's top hospital is to face calls for an overhaul after a damning review of its cardiac unit.
An NHS report into standards of care at Swindon's nearest heart centre was being released today.
The review of the Oxford Heart Centre, part of the John Radcliffe Hospital, was ordered in March after staff raised concerns over operational practice.
Concerns included the quality of pre- and post-operative care, claims that junior doctors were not properly supervised and that a culture of intimidation prevented staff airing their worries.
The report is expected to recommend an overhaul of the centre, which is used by hundreds of Swindon patients.
A news conference was being held this morning in Abingdon, Oxon, chaired by Barbara Stocking, regional director of the NHS Executive South East, and attended by David Highton, chief executive of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust.
