There is no chance of a toxic fire similar to one at Sandhurst chemical dump happening in Cricklade, says the managing director of the waste firm which has a transport and distribution centre in the town.
Cleansing Services Group is a Southampton-based business which collects and disposes of chemical waste.
Just over two weeks ago, the Sandhurst plant burst into flames, sending clouds of toxic fumes over the Gloucestershire village, leaving people feeling ill and one villager in hospital.
But today managing director Ken Pee insisted there was no possibility of a similar incident happening at the Cricklade base. Mr Pee said: "The answer to the question of whether this could happen at Cricklade is a categoric no.
"Any waste that is being stored anywhere has to have a waste management licence and at Cricklade there is no licence and no dump."
