A former school governor was today due to stand trial for pub-lishing porn videos.
Douglas Major is accused of copying and distributing the material for money using equipment and spools of film supplied by a firm in the Netherlands.
The 48-year-old, who has two grown-up daughters, was due to appear at Swindon Crown Court this morning with a second man, 37-year-old Steven Feegrade, from Deacon Street.
Both are charged with conspiracy to publish obscene articles for gain.
Major, of Pleydell Road, used to be a governor at St Luke's Special School in Cricklade Road, Kingsdown.
He was also the chairman of the National Communications Union branch at BT in Swindon for more than a decade, leading negotiations over pay, conditions and redundancies.
Now he runs a shop in Bourton-on-the-Water after taking a redundancy package in March 1996.
He is well known in the village and in Swindon for his hobby of rock collecting. He began studying earth sciences and gemology at the Open University and went on to study for a professional qualification in gemology.
