A couple who are desperate to sell their home have come up with a novel way of attracting buyers a week's holiday in Turkey.

Ewa, 34, and Chris Mulcock, 30, must sell their 16th century thatched cottage in Buckland near Faringdon, after they were made redundant from the greetings card company where they both worked.

"We have really loved living in this house and there is no way we would have left if we did not have to," said Ewa who, with Chris, has lived in the two-bedroomed house for two years.

The couple have both found new jobs with different companies in Hertfordshire, and they are now eager to move closer to where they work to avoid a gruelling three-hour, 150-mile round trip each day.

Ewa said: "Travelling to work every day is a bit of a nightmare. We don't get back home until quite late and because we both work different hours, we can't travel together. With the weather conditions and the recent fuel blockade it was a really difficult journey.

"Obviously we looked for work closer to the Faringdon area, because it is an area we love. We will be sad to leave, but we have to move to where the work is."

Ewa has found a job in her former role as a human resources manager and her husband is involved in setting up a greeting card printing operation.

The couple first put their grade II listed home on the market four months ago with a price tag of £195,000.

But after the house failed to attract interest, the couple reduced the price to £169,000, changed estate agents and decided to offer the Turkish holiday as a way of generating more interest.

"We were racking our brains to decide how we could sell the house when we came up with the idea of offering a holiday as a way of encouraging people to take a second look.

"It was something that people used to do in the 1980s when they wanted to sell their houses quickly. It is early days yet, but we are expecting quite a lot of interest. "

The holiday on offer is a seven-day stay for two at a four-star hotel in the coastal resort of Olu Deniz, described in the holiday brochure as "one of the most famous resorts in Tur-key, lying on a blue lagoon sweeping into a crescent of coarse pale sand and pebble beach."
